The Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart
The Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart (Protestant-Clinical-Center Stuttgart) is one of the largest hospitals in Stuttgart, located very close to the city center. We offer our patients up-to-date medical treatment on a very high standard, combined with humanity and attention. The Diakonie-Klinikum has 1000 employees and 479 beds. Every year, about 15 000 in-patients are being treated here.
A hospital with a long tradition
The hospital originated in 2003 when two hospitals with a long tradition were combined: The Orthopädische Klinik Paulinenhilfe (Orthopedic Hospital Paulinenhilfe, founded in 1845) and the Diakonissen Krankenhaus (Protestant Hospital, founded in 1854). Both have over 150 years of experience in nursing and the care of sick people. The Diakonie-Klinikum is following this tradition as well. The professional and social qualification of the staff, their motivation and dedication are at its base.

A new building with modern comfort
Over the past few years, the Diakonie-Klinikum has completed one of the biggest new-construction hospital buildings in the state of Baden-Württemberg. In a central location, spacious and modern premises were built to hold the special fields of Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Oncology and Radiology. We offer our patients modern and bright rooms with shower and toilet, telephone, radio, TV and - if desired – Internet access at the bedside.

The special fields of Surgery, Urology and Psychosomatic Medicine are accommodated in the Wilhelmhospital, which was built in 1906. Due to its architecture that was typical during that time, it was landmarked. With its modernized rooms it offers a very special atmosphere with historic ambiance. In the inner courtyard, a green garden invites patients and visitors to linger. The patients’ relatives can find comfortable and luxury accommodation in the first class hotel next door.
Modern Medical treatment with extraordinary quality
To grant perfect care for our patients, our Clinical Center uses all the latest diagnostic techniques and medical devices. The Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart is one of the academic teaching hospitals of the University of Tübingen with its worldwide accredited medical faculty. Under the supervision of experienced doctors the medical students acquire their practical training. That way, the newest scientific findings of medical research keep flowing into our work.

The substantial quality management of our Clinical Center was again prized in 2008 with the state approved KTQ-quality certificate. The Diakonie-Klinikum is one of the first hospitals in Germany that has been awarded with this state recognition.

Nursing with heart and reason
Our patients are in the center of our actions. It is our goal, to keep the patient’s dignity, to respect their right of self-determination and to react sensitive to their needs. We meet our patients with politeness and understanding. Through high quality and service we want to reach the patient’s full contentment. The patients and their relatives shall feel comfortable with us. Medical and wholesome help and care, widespread service and respect of cultural and religious habits and values are a part of that.
Food off the menu
The right and healthy diet that also tastes good is important for the process of healing. Therefore you eat “off the menu” in the Diakonie-Klinikum. The menu system makes it possible. Every day the food can be combined individually from different menus and components. Of course everything is being prepared in the in-house kitchen – from breakfast to dinner.

The Diakonie-Klinikum is located downtown and can be easily reached through the very good traffic infrastructure of Stuttgart: no matter if you are traveling to Stuttgart by train or car, or in the city by taxi, bus or tram.
